Islamabad: Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) ,Sindh, Director General Muazzam Jah told the Suprem Court on Thursday that Rs 509 million have been recovered in the National Insurance Corporation Limited (NICL) corruption scandal.A three-member bench of the apex court headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry along with Justice Muhammad Sair Ali and Justice Khalilur Rehman Ramday was hearing a suo motu case against the alleged NICL scam.
Muazzam Jah informed the court that Rs 300 million embezzlement had been made in purchasing land.
The CJ questioned whether the recovered money would be deposited in the national exchequer or not.
FIA Additional Director Zafar Qureshi an investigation officer of the NICL told the court that he feared threat to his life and added that PML-Q leader Chaudhry Shujaat, Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi besides Mohsin Warraich, an accused in the case, would be responsible for his murder.
The Chief Justice ordered him to express his reservations to law enforcement agencies as they were responsible to protect him.
The CJ ordered the Attorney Genera Anwarul Haq to provide security cover to Zafar Qureshi.
The hearing was adjourned for a month.
