Islamabad: President Asif Ali Zardari on Tuesday convened a roundtable conference of all political parties in the parliament to discuss the prevailing political and economic situation in the country.Presidential spokesman Farhatullah Babar told media that the president would contact the political leaders to take them into confidence regarding the meeting, adding that the schedule for the proposed roundtable meeting would be announced soon.
The incumbent government is facing severe pressure from political rivals especially by the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) in line with economic crises and increasing corruption. The PML-N had given 10-point agenda to the PPP led government last month, setting up 45-day deadline for implementation, however, the government is unable to fulfill the agenda after the lapse of a month.
