Islamabad: The identity of Raymond Devis, an American national, who shot dead two Pakistanis in Lahore, the capital city of Punjab, on Thursday, is yet to be confirmed.
It is not confirmed yet whether Devis is a CIA agent or American diplomat who has immunity.
Famous Pakistani anchorperson of a TV show Asma Chaudary revealed that Raymond Devis is an agent of CIA and he has been to Pakistan nine times in last eight years.
Rana Sanaullah, provincial Law Minister, said that Devis’s passport was in police custody and all the information was being collected with the help of his passport.
He said there is no pressure on Punjab government regarding this case and transparent interrogation will be held. He said the case is proceeding in a court and decision of the judiciary will be implemented.
Sanaullah said that Punjab government has demanded the American Embassy to provide the vehicle used in the incident so that the case could further proceed.
Former Inter Services Intelligence (ISI) Chief General (Retd) Hameed Gul has said that the incident has promoted anti American sentiments among masses.
He urged the Government of Pakistan that all hidden agreements with the United States should be shown.
Leader of Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid-e-Azam Senator Tariq Azeem has said that when official of American Embassy was contacted to confirm the identity and designation of Devis, the official said that any information in this regard could not be disclosed.
He demanded the government inform the nation about the details of 72 houses acquired by Americans in Islamabad, the federal capital of Pakistan. He said any ambassador cannot be such a good shooter.
