Karachi: More than 400 suspects were arrested by the Sindh Rangers during a search operation in different parts of Orangi town, in Mominabad Police limits, on Tuesday.
Sources said that a large number of the paramilitary force’s personnel cordoned off the area and conducted search operation in the area, arresting more than 200 suspects.
The sources said that a huge amount of arm and ammunition was recovered during the operation.
Media reports said that most of the arrested persons were those, who failed to prove their identities.
All the suspects were shifted to the Mominabad police station after the operation that lasted 8 hours.
It may be mentioned here that Federal Interior Minister Rehman Malik during his recent visit to Karachi had announced that a partial curfew would be imposed in the areas where the criminal elements would be present.
More than 40 people have been killed including a journalist and several injured in the latest wave of target killing in the metropolis while a word of war have stared between two coalition partners Awami National Party (ANP) and Mutthhida Qaumi Movement (MQM) , blaming each other for the killings.
