Karachi: The 26th Women PIA National Hockey Championship, organised by Sindh Women Hockey Association (SWHA) in collaboration with Pakistan International Airline, National Bank of Pakistan and Habib Bank of Pakistan, has begun on Tuesday.
In the opening match played at the Hockey Club of Pakistan, Wapda beat Punjab (White).
Women hockey teams of Wapda, Army, Railways, Sindh Colour, Sindh White, Punjab Colour, Punjab White, Balochistan, Khyber Pukhtunkhwa and Islamabad are taking part in the championship.
They have been divided into two groups ‘A’ and ‘B’. The final of the tournament would be played on January 12.
