North Waziristan: United States unmanned aircraft fired missiles in Pakistan’s tribal region of North Waziristan, leaving at least five people dead and several others injured on late Friday.
According to The News Tribe correspondent from Peshawar, the US drone targeted a compound in Mir Ali Tehsil of North Waziristan, bordering Afghanistan. As a result, at least five people who were stated to be militants were killed in the attack, according to security forces. But there is no official confirmation that the victims were militants or civilians.
Several other people were also received injuries in the drone strike. The death toll may rise as some of the injured were said to be in critical condition.
North Waziristan and South Waziristan tribal regions of Pakistan have been frequently targeted by US drones over the past few years.
Thousands of people have been killed in the unsanctioned attacks.
