New Delhi: An Indian serving Lieutenant General has been court martialed, for the first time in the country’s history.
Reports said that an army court convicted Lt Gen P K Rath after being found guilty in the Sukna Land Scam case, adding the Gen had given a no-objection certificate (NOC) to a private developer to commercially develop a 71-acre land adjacent to the Sukna military station in Darjeeling in December 2009 district despite repeated objections by his own officers.
Rath also issued the NOC without informing Eastern Command or Army Headquarters.He will be sentenced on Sunday.
