RIO DE JANEIRO: The Pakistani team of the young street soccer players defeated India by a massive 13 goals in a Street Child World Cup (SCWC) match on Tuesday.
In a country where football is not a favourite game and the national team is far away from making into FIFA World Cup, this is an extra ordinary achievement from poor street kids.
This is the first time Pakistan are participating in the SCWC 2014.
In Pakistan, the SCWC is collaborating with the Azad Foundation along with British Council and Unicef.
The Street Child World Cup in association with Save the Children is a global movement for street children to receive the protection and opportunities that all children are entitled to.
In 2014 the World Cup has returned to its spiritual home: Brazil. Uniting teams of street children from up to 20 countries, drawing from a network of outstanding projects all campaigning for the rights of street children. This will ensure that street children’s voices are heard and that they will have the chance to play in the festival of football.
