MIRPUR: Indian cricket team registered an unexpected easy win over Australia in an ICC World Twenty20 Group 2 match here at Shere Bangla stadium.
Indian team scored 159 runs for the loss of 7 wickets after put into bat by Australia who won the toss.
Surprisingly, in response Australia were all out for only 86 runs as their wickets keep falling at an alarming rate.
Maxwell was the top scorer of Australian innings with 23 runs in 12 balls.
The win is the India’s fourth consecutive win in the ICC Twenty 20 World Cup.
Thanks to Australian batting, Indian spinner Ashwin took 4 wickets for just 11 runs, best figures by an Indian in T20 format and was declared ‘Man of the Match’
The thread connecting India’s four wins in the on-going World Twenty20 is how easily they’ve won each time. Pakistan barely stretched them. West Indies were no challenge. Bangladesh induced a yawn and another win.
Even though Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli (totalling 289 runs in those three games) failed today, India still put runs on the board with Yuvraj Singh’s counter-attacking 60.
Skipper Dhoni made 24 runs off 20 balls to give the last impetus to India.
Australian team is out of the tournament now along with Bangladesh.
