Washington: The Nokia Lumia 2520 haven’t launched yet, US carrier Verizon already aiming to cut $100 over the device for Black Friday.
The device is expected to make its debut under Verizon flag on November 22 for $499.99. Nokia is looking to do with tablets what it did for smartphones running Microsoft’s Windows Phone OS.
The Finnish company announced two important devices at Nokia World last month. Nokia debuted the first Windows Phone phablet when it unveiled the 6-inch Nokia Lumia 1520. The super-sized smartphone will be making its way to AT&T later this month.
Nokia also took the wraps off of its first Windows tablet, the Lumia 2520, which will run on AT&T and Verizon’s 4G LTE networks.
The Lumia 2520 will cost $499.99 and will be available in choice of red or black on Verizon and black for AT&T. The tablet is expected to launch on Nov. 22, and according to a new report from Windows Phone Central, Verizon will cut the price to $399.99 when signing a new 2-year contract on Nov. 29.
That date just happens to be the day after Thanksgiving, better known as Black Friday. The site received the image above, which clearly shows the before and after pricing. Verizon may want to correct the OS it lists running on the Lumia 2520, as it does not run Windows 8.1 OS, but the Surface 2’s Windows RT 8.1 OS.
The Nokia Lumia 2520 features a 10.1-inch 1920 x 1080 Full HD ClearBlack IPS LCD display with a pixel density of 219 pixels per inch (ppi). The tablet runs Windows RT 8.1, is powered by a quad-core 2.2Ghz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, and 2 GB of RAM. It includes 32GB of internal storage and a microSD expansion slot that will support up to 32GB of additional memory.
Its camera capabilities include a 6.7-megapixel rear camera with Carl Zeiss optics, digital 4x zoom and auto focus, as well as a 2-megapixel front-facing camera for video chat. Users will also find a USB 3.0 port, 4G LTE radio, Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, and non-removable 8,000 mAh battery.
It’s not clear if the $399.99 price will be a permanent offering or if it’s only a Black Friday promotion. Once we get more details we’ll update you on the pricing.
