COLOMBO: Pakistan Chief of Army Staff Genera Asfhaq Parvez Kayani says armies of Pakistan and Sri Lanka enjoy the highest level of mutual trust and cooperation.
The army chief, who is on a three day visit to Sri Lanka, was addressing passing out parade at Sri Lankan Military Academy.
He viewed that he was certain about future strengthening of the trust and cooperation with making a pledge to support Lankan army in its pursuit of excellence.
“Sri Lanka and Pakistan are both peace loving countries and regardless of internal and external challenges‚ our armed forces persistently seek peace within the region and beyond,” Radio Pakistan quoted him saying.
“We desire regional stability based on a balance of power that promotes respect for each other’s sovereignty and discourages any form of quest for dominance and hegemony.”
Kayani looked impressed with immaculate turnout, military bearing, and standard of drill at the parade saying that the academy itself indicates the pursue of excellence.
General Kayani lauded Sri Lankan Army’s strength in the most trying times while emerging as victorious in purging the society from militancy as well as in post conflict peace and stability.
