Islamabad: Pakistan’s former prime minister Yousuf Raza Gilani filed a review petition on Saturday against his disqualification by the Supreme Court of Pakistan in a contempt of court case.
Gilani was disqualified in June for not complying with the SC’s ruling in the case against the National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO).
He told media persons outside the court, he said it was the collective decision of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) to not write a letter to Swiss authorities to reopen a graft case against President Asif Ali Zardari.
The ex-PM came to the Supreme Court for filing the review petition, which was earlier sent by post and returned by the SC Registrar with objections.
Gilani reiterated his stance that the president enjoyed immunity from criminal prosecution while in office.
