Islamabad: Pakistan’s Foreign Office Spokesman has been changed, sources said. It is the second big change in the foreign ministry of Pakistan after former Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi was apparently forced to leave charge of the ministry.
According to Pakistani TV sources, Abdul Basit has been replaced with Tahmina Janjua.
Sources said that Basit has been appointed as Additional Secretary on European Issues, while senior officer Naeem Khan will be new Additional Secretary Administration.
Political experts in Pakistan said that the government wants to to give immunity to Raymond Davis who killed two Pakistanis in Lahore and it would take every possible step in this regard.
Qureshi has said that Davis has no diplomatic immunity and his party (Pakistan Peoples’ Party) forced him not to comment on the Davis issue, but he refused all pressure in the larger interest of Pakistan.
