Islamabad: Taliban’s supreme commander Mullah Muhammad Omer on Saturday rejected calls for peace talks with Afghan government led by President Hamid Karzai saying that it would be a betrayal with the sacrifices of martyrs, media reports said.
According to the reports, Omer said that the Taliban would not indulge in any peace talks with Karzai government and would continue fighting foreign troops.
Omer said that negotiations with Karzai government would be a betrayal from the blood of millions of martyrs.
On Friday, Pakistani Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani publicly urged the Afghan Taliban and its allies to take part in formal peace talks with the Afghan government to end the country’s 11-year war.
