Dubai: The intense rains in the United Arab Emirates have wreaked havoc, leaving the life system severely paralyzed.
According to the UAE Meteorological Department, from Monday morning till Tuesday afternoon, thunderstorms accompanied by heavy rains occurred, with cloud bursts in various regions. Due to the heavy rains, roads in several states and cities of the UAE started resembling lakes, while residential areas faced flooding, and rainwater entered houses, malls, metro stations, and other locations.
The Meteorological Department stated that the second spell of rain, starting from Tuesday afternoon, will continue until Thursday, with more rain accompanied by thunder and lightning. Meteorologists predict rapid showers in various regions during this period.
Local authorities have appealed to citizens not to venture out unnecessarily from their homes. They further reported that due to the accumulation of several feet of water on roads, cars have been submerged, leading to traffic disruptions. However, emergency measures are being taken for drainage. This situation is prevalent in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Fujairah, and Ras Al Khaimah, where incidents of landslides have also been reported.
