Lahore: Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman has been elected as the Ameer (chief) of Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan.
Recognized as a strong voice in politics and an advocate for the rights of the people of Karachi, Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman has been elected as the Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan.
To elect the Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami, the Presidential Election Commission had announced the names of three candidates, including Siraj ul Haq, Liaqat Baloch, and Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman. The term of the new Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami will be from April 2024 to April 2029.
According to Jamaat-e-Islami’s constitution, the election of the Ameer is held every five years.
Members of Jamaat-e-Islami from all over the country voted for the new Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami through secret ballots. After vote counting, the results were announced by the Election Commission President Rashid Naseem, revealing that Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman has been elected as the Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan, receiving more than 80 percent of the votes.
It should be noted that the current Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami, Siraj ul Haq, will complete his second term of leadership (chief) on April 8th. After that, Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman will assume the position of Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan.
Hafiz Naeem ul Rahman has been appointed as the sixth Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami. Previously, the founder of Jamaat-e-Islami, Ameer Maulana Syed Abul A’la Maududi, was followed by Mian Tufail Mohammad, Qazi Hussain Ahmad, Syed Munawar Hasan, and then Siraj ul Haq.
Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman is known for his advocacy for the rights of Karachi and its residents. He spearheaded efforts for the Haq Do Karachi (Give Rights to Karachi) campaign, addressing the issues of the city, which gained recognition worldwide. Additionally, he played a leading role in the fight against electricity overbilling, unnecessary taxes, and the electricity mafia. Furthermore, Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman provided strong advocacy for the legal and political representation of the people of Karachi.
