According to media reports, the police stated that this action was taken only as a precautionary measure against potential disturbances. Mosques in the districts of Aligarh and Sambhal in Uttar Pradesh were covered with plastic sheets.
It is worth noting that just the other day in India, a motorcyclist was stopped by Hindus and had colors thrown on him. There were also two women on the motorcycle, who were pushed and had colored muddy water thrown at them.
