Army had Nothing to do with Electoral Process Other Than Providing Security, says Military Top Brass

Rawalpindi: The Corps Commanders Conference has stated that the armed forces of Pakistan had nothing to do with the electoral process other than providing security for the general elections, and those responsible for the incidents on May 9 will be brought to justice under all circumstances.

General Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff (COAS), presided over the 263rd Corps Commanders’ Conference (CCC) held at the General Headquarters (GHQ) today. During the conference, significant matters pertaining to national security and recent political developments were deliberated upon.

The forum commended the efforts of the Civil Administration, Law Enforcement Agencies, and security forces for their unwavering support during the General Elections, ensuring a safe and secure environment in accordance with the Election Commission of Pakistan’s guidelines. However, it expressed dismay over allegations of interference levied against the Armed Forces by certain segments of polity and media, especially social media, labeling such claims as highly deplorable.

Emphasizing the Armed Forces’ commitment to its primary responsibility of ensuring national security, the forum reiterated that it played no role in the electoral process, instead focusing on providing a conducive security environment for the elections. It condemned attempts to shift blame onto the military for political instability, urging for evidence-based discourse rather than unfounded rhetoric.

The Corps Commanders’ Conference underscored the importance of democratic consolidation in Pakistan, expressing hope for political and economic stability in the post-election period. It reaffirmed the military leadership’s dedication to addressing security threats and supporting socioeconomic growth, including efforts to combat illegal activities and ensure the safe repatriation of illegal foreigners.

In alignment with the Prime Minister’s directives, the forum pledged to pursue justice against perpetrators of attacks on military installations and desecration of Monuments of martyrs. It condemned efforts to distort facts and spread disinformation for political gains, urging unity among Pakistanis for the nation’s progress and development.

COAS Munir emphasized the need for field commanders to maintain professionalism, operational readiness, and motivation, both during operations and training, underscoring the army’s commitment to enduring stability, prosperity, and security.

The forum also raised concerns over the ongoing oppression of Kashmiris in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, condemning India’s continuous human rights violations. The forum reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering political, diplomatic, and moral support for Kashmiris.

Additionally, the forum expressed solidarity with Palestinians, condemning the severe human rights violations and war crimes in Gaza. The COAS affirmed Pakistan’s steadfast diplomatic, moral, and political backing for the Palestinian cause.

The Corps Commanders’ Conference concluded with a reaffirmation of Pakistan Army’s unwavering dedication to safeguarding the nation and fostering unity in the pursuit of progress and development.
