Israel’s Barbaric Attacks in Gaza Continue, 118 More Palestinians Martyred

Gaza: The Israeli forces are carrying out the worst aggression in Gaza, with an additional 118 Palestinians martyred in the last 24 hours.

Due to the Israeli aggression and relentless bombardment in Gaza, the situation for the already beleaguered Palestinians has deteriorated further as Gaza’s Health Ministry reports 112 Palestinians killed and 148 wounded in the past 24 hours.

The Israeli forces have initiated advancement towards the Rafah border area after targeting central regions as in a deeply concerning development, the Israeli Defence Minister who recently pledged to attack Rafah area, a region previously considered a “safe zone,” has left over one million displaced Palestinians fearing an imminent military onslaught.

On the other hand, in Khan Yunis, the severe shortage of oxygen in hospitals has posed serious risks to the lives of patients.

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has once again appealed for assistance. In a statement, he mentioned that the system of humanitarian necessities in Gaza has been devastated, and every individual is suffering from hunger. He further emphasized the urgent and sustained provision of aid in Gaza.

As a result of attacks carried out by Palestinians resistance forces, eight Israeli soldiers wounded in the past 24 hours, two seriously. This adds to the existing toll of 223 Israeli troops since the start of Israel’s war on Gaza.

The total death toll in Gaza from Israeli attacks has reached 27,131, mostly women and children, and 66,287 wounded since October 7. Notably, Israeli attacks have claimed the lives of more than 11,500 children and 8,500 women in Gaza within less than four months.

The World Health Organisation (WHO) describes the conditions in Gaza as “unimaginable,” with people living in exhaustion, hunger, and trauma. A displaced mother interviewed by the UN agency highlighted the dire situation, emphasizing the lack of protection from the weather, limited access to healthcare, and scarcity of food and water.

More than half of the victims of the barbaric Israeli attacks, both martyred and injured, are children and women. According to UNICEF,  more than 10 children a day lose one or both legs in Gaza due to Israeli attacks.

According to a report by Oxfam, Israel’s military is inflicting an average daily death toll of 250 Palestinians in Gaza, marking an unprecedented and deeply troubling escalation of hostilities. This staggering rate, surpasses any recent major conflict, including Syria, Sudan, Iraq, Ukraine, Afghanistan, and Yemen.

As of January 20, the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) reported that over 85% (1.9 Million people) population has been displaced in various areas of Gaza while relentless Israeli bombardment has destroyed over 70% of homes in Gaza.

The UN’s Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs, Martin Griffiths has said that “Gaza has simply become uninhabitable”.

According to the Gaza Health Ministry over 350,000 individuals with chronic illnesses are now deprived of access to medications, posing a potential risk of severe health complications

As per UNICEF, the current daily cases of diarrhea among children have surged to nearly 3,200 cases, marking a 2,000 percent since the start of the war.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has revealed that 70 percent of healthcare professionals in Gaza have been forced to flee due to violence, at a time when there is most need of their essential services.
