Surge in Electricity Price by Rs 2.87 per Unit for Karachi

Islamabad: The National Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has once again approved an increase in electricity prices for Karachi, increasing it by Rs 2.87 per unit.

According to media reports, an increase of Rs 2.87 per unit has been made in the tariff for K-Electric consumers in the three-month adjustment period. The adjustment in electricity prices has been made for January to March 2023.

With electricity becoming more expensive, K-Electric consumers will bear a further burden of Rs 9 billion. NEPRA has submitted the decision to increase K-Electric to the federal government.

NEPRA has increased electricity prices twice in the same adjustment period, where the electricity price was first hiked at the request federal, and now at the request of K-Electric.
