Earthquake in Japan Kills 30, Tsunami Warning Issued

Tokyo: On New Year’s Day in Japan, a powerful earthquake resulted in the tragic death of at least 30 individuals. Following the earthquake in Japan, a tsunami warning has been issued.

According to international news agencies, the earthquake, with an initial magnitude of 7.6, occurred on Monday afternoon, and claimed the lives of 30 people, leading to the issuance of a tsunami warning at the governmental level, prompting residents in coastal regions to move to higher ground due to tsunami waves along the west coast.

The earthquake, recorded at a magnitude of 7.6 on the Richter scale in the seismic scale of the affected eastern regions of the country, was felt in the central and northeastern coastal areas of Japan.

Extensive efforts involving army personnel, firefighters, and police officers are underway to address the situation in the Noto peninsula of Ishikawa prefecture, the worst-hit area. However, rescue teams are encountering difficulties in reaching affected areas where buildings have crumbled, roads are in disrepair, and a large number of homes are without power.

Authorities have confirmed 30 deaths and issued a tsunami warning after the earthquake. The morning tremors on Monday caused fear and panic among the residents, prompting people to evacuate open areas.
