Paris: French President Emmanuel Macron emphasized the importance of precision in counterterrorism efforts, cautioning against measures leading to the widespread destruction of Gaza.
Speaking in response to Israel’s relentless attacks on Gaza, Macron asserted that an effective fight against terrorism should not involve indiscriminate attacks on civilian populations.
“We cannot let the idea take root that an efficient fight against terrorism implies to flatten Gaza or attack civilian populations indiscriminately,” Macron stated during an interview with France 5. He urged Israel to halt its current response, emphasizing the equal value of all lives in the conflict and the need for a more suitable approach.
While acknowledging Israel’s right to self-defense, Macron called for enhanced protection of civilians and advocated for a truce leading to a humanitarian ceasefire.
It is worth noting that the relentless Israeli attacks on Gaza since October 7 have resulted in the loss of over 20,000 Palestinians, including more than 8,000 women, while over 52,000 people have been injured, leaving 70 percent of homes in Gaza damaged or destroyed leading to a grave humanitarian crisis.
