Asia Cup Under 19: Pakistan Defeats Afghanistan, Reaches Semi-Finals

Dubai: Pakistan advanced to the semi-finals by defeating Afghanistan in the Asia Cup Under-19 match by 83 runs.

Prior to this, after defeating Nepal by 7 wickets and India by 8 wickets, this is Pakistan Under-19’s third consecutive success in this crucial event.

In the match played at ICC Academy Ground, Afghanistan won the toss and invited Pakistan to bat first. The Pakistani team scored 303 runs in 48 overs and got out. In response, Afghanistan’s team collapsed at 220 runs in 48.4 overs.

Openers Shamyl Hussain and Shahzaib Khan provided a strong start to the team with a partnership of 115 runs. Shahzaib Khan, contributing with 9 boundaries and one six, scored 79 runs before getting out. Shamyl Hussain played aggressively, scoring 75 runs off 54 balls, including 5 fours and 7 sixes. Riaz Ullah scored 73 runs with the help of 5 fours and 2 sixes.

Azan Awais, who scored a century against India, made 20 runs with the help of 3 boundaries. From Afghanistan’s side, Faridun Dawoodzai and Bashir Ahmed took 3 wickets each. The outstanding bowling performance from the Pakistani bowlers did not allow the Afghan team to settle at any point.

From Afghanistan, Nauman Shah was the top scorer with 54 runs, consisting of four fours and one six. From the Pakistani side, Ubaid Shah took 3 wickets, while Tayyab Arif took 2 wickets. Making his debut in Under-19 one-day cricket, Khubaib Khalil took 2 wickets after giving away 45 runs.

For Pakistan, Abid Shah contributed 19 runs, and Tayyab Arif scored 51 runs, taking three wickets each. For his aggressive batting and scoring a half-century, Shamyl Hussain from Pakistan was awarded the Player of the Match.
