West Bank: Israeli forces have launched lethal operations in the occupied West Bank, resulting in the death of at least four Palestinians in the city of Jenin. The intensity of the raids has escalated, with reports indicating that the Israeli army fired a missile at youths during the incursion.
In a simultaneous assault on southern Gaza, Israeli attacks on Rafah, near the border with Egypt, claimed the lives of 20 individuals, including seven children and at least five women. Additionally, Israeli artillery shelling in Khan Younis resulted in two fatalities, according to Palestinian medical sources.
The raids coincide with the imminent United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) meeting, where discussions on an “immediate humanitarian ceasefire” are expected. The escalation has fueled tensions, and Palestinians in Jenin have erected roadblocks in an attempt to resist the ongoing incursions.
Despite international calls for restraint, Israel has intensified its military actions in both the West Bank and Gaza. The Palestine Red Crescent Society reported that Israeli forces are obstructing ambulances from reaching the Jenin refugee camp, hindering the treatment of the wounded.
In response to the heightened violence, the UNGA is set to address the urgent need for a ceasefire. The situation remains volatile as Israeli forces continue their raids and bombardments, with the total Palestinian death toll reaching 487 this year, including 270 since October 7.
The international community watches closely as the UN deliberates on measures to mitigate the crisis and enforce an immediate end to Israeli hostilities.
