Religious Scholars, Leaders Unite Against Israeli Aggression, Declare December 8th as Masjid al-Aqsa Day

Islamabad: A significant gathering of prominent religious scholars and leaders, representing diverse schools of thought, took place on Wednesday at the Jinnah Convention Centre for the National Conference titled ‘The Sanctity of Al-Aqsa Mosque and Responsibility of the Muslim Ummah.’ The leaders of all major religious groups and madrasahs across the country announced the observance of Masjid al-Aqsa Day on Friday, December 8th.

Organized by Majlis Ittehad-e-Ummah Pakistan, the conference witnessed the formulation of a joint declaration that expressed unwavering solidarity with the freedom of the Al-Aqsa Mosque and condemned the oppression faced by the Palestinian brothers.

Addressing the audience, the religious scholars and leaders vehemently denounced Israel’s continuous aggression, labeling it a violator of international law since its illegitimate establishment. They drew attention to the recent devastating bombings in Gaza, resulting in the tragic martyrdom of over 15,000 Palestinians, including 6,000 children and numerous women.

Deeming these actions as war crimes against humanity, the Ulema and Mashaykh highlighted the deliberate targeting of mosques, churches, hospitals, and even newborns.

Critiquing Western powers for their complicity in supporting Israel’s crimes through financial, practical, and military assistance, they urgently called for an immediate halt to brutal bombings, war crimes, and all forms of support for Israel.

Emphasizing that the entire land of Palestine belonged to its original inhabitants, the religious leaders condemned the unjust settlements established by Zionists. They urged the people of Palestine to resist this aggression, underscoring the religious duty of Muslims to support the cause.

Characterizing the ongoing conflict as a grand defensive Jihad rooted in pure Islam, the scholars and leaders stressed the need to liberate the Al-Aqsa Mosque and the land of the Last Prophet, Peace Be Upon Him, from Zionist dominance.

The leaders demanded basic rights for the people of Palestine in accordance with United Nations resolutions. They called for an end to military intervention, the siege on Al-Quds, the Gaza Strip, and the West Bank, as well as the permanent opening of the Rafah border.

Expressing concern over the continuing suffering of Palestinians, the leaders called on the Islamic world to take a united defensive stand. They urged Muslims worldwide to provide aid to the suffering people of Palestine and commended Pakistan’s efforts in sending aid ships to Gaza.

The scholars and leaders appealed to international law experts to file cases against Israel’s leaders in the International Court of Justice for war crimes. They called for peaceful protests globally, aimed at exposing Israel’s inhuman acts, and urged Muslims to boycott Israeli products and companies supporting Israel.

In a significant announcement, the leaders declared Friday, 8th December as Masjid al-Aqsa Day across the country. They appealed to Muslims to participate in strong protests, pass resolutions against Israeli atrocities in mosques, and inform the public about the issue of Palestine and their responsibilities.

Notable figures among the religious scholars and leaders include Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (Fazl) Chief Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman, Jamaat-e-Islami Head Siraj-ul-Haq, Mufti Taqi Usmani, Mufti Munib-ur-Rehman, Senator Prof. Sajid Mir, Senator Dr. Abdul Kareem, Qari Hanif Jalandhri, and others.
