Washington: An Indian government official has been charged in the United States with involvement in the conspiracy to murder a Sikh leader living in New York City, Gurpatwant Singh Pannun.
According to news agencies, an American court in Manhattan has charged an Indian citizen with involvement in the conspiracy to murder Sikh leader Gurpatwant Singh Pannun.
During the hearing, the federal prosecutor presented evidence that the task of killing Sikh leader Gurpatwant Singh was assigned to a person named Nikhil Gupta by an official of the Indian government. Subsequently, the entire plan for the murder was executed. The attack on the Sikh leader and the report from the intelligence agency shed light on the fact that in June of the previous year, the police arrested Nikhil Gupta from the Czech Republic, who confessed to the murder plot during the investigation.
In response to these allegations by the American Department of Justice, the Indian Embassy in Washington has not issued an immediate response.
