Lahore: Renowned Pakistani cricketer Babar Azam, following the Pakistani cricket team’s poor performance in the ICC World Cup 2023, has announced his resignation from the captaincy of the national cricket team in all formats, stating that it is the right time to step down from captaincy.
“Today, I am stepping down as the captain of Pakistan in all formats. It’s a difficult decision but I feel it is the right time for it”, he stated.
During a press conference, Babar Azam mentioned that as a player, he will continue to represent Pakistan in all formats and will always be available to support the new captain with his experience. He thanked the PCB for giving him the opportunity to be the captain of PCT stating, “I want to express my sincere thanks to the Pakistan Cricket Board for entrusting me with this significant responsibility.”
