Kathmandu: The Nepalese government has imposed a ban on the social media platform TikTok.
According to news agencies, the Nepalese government has decided to ban the Chinese-owned social media platform TikTok, and immediate enforcement has been initiated.
It is reported that due to the increasing trend of aimless activities in the younger generation and other negative activities, the government has decided to impose an immediate ban on TikTok. In this regard, decisions for other platforms are also expected.
Raghubir Mahaseth, the Minister for Communication and Government Spokesperson of Nepal stated that the decision to impose an immediate ban on TikTok was made during a cabinet meeting.
The ban on TikTok comes five days after the government’s announcement regarding the legislation of all social media platforms, while in Nepal, a three-month deadline has been given to the offices of social media platforms to address government complaints.
