South African Foreign Minister Demands Arrest of Israeli Prime Minister

Cape Town: South African Foreign Minister Naledi Pandor has demanded the arrest of the Israeli Prime Minister over the ongoing brutal bombings and civilian casualties in Gaza.

The African Foreign Minister appealed to the International Court of Justice (ICC) to issue a warrant for the arrest of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and expedite the prosecutorial investigations into the Israeli war crimes, and crimes committed against humanity in Gaza.

“The murder of children and women by Israel is an act that should have resulted in the International Criminal Court issuing an immediate arrest warrant for key decision-makers, including Mr Netanyahu, who is responsible for violations of international criminal law,” she said.

She stressed the urgent need to open humanitarian corridors to provide necessary aid to the beleaguered people in Gaza whose lives have been destroyed by Israeli aggression.

“The actions that we are witnessing daily by Israel are a violation of international law, including the United Nations Charter and the Geneva Convention, and all its protocols in its attacks on and kidnapping of innocent civilians”, she added.

It is noteworthy that a few days ago, South Africa recalled its diplomats from Israel to protest against the continued Israeli aggression in Gaza that has claimed the lives of more than 12,000, more than 40% of whom are children. The South African government declared that, due to the situation in Gaza, it was recalling all its diplomats from Israel.
