Hamas Attacks Did not Happen in a Vacuum; Palestinians Have Suffered for 56 years, says the United Nations

New York: United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has stated that the Hamas attacks did not happen in a vacuum and highlighted that the Palestinian people have been enduring oppression for 56 years.

Addressing the Security Council during a three-month meeting regarding the Middle East, Guterres expressed deep concern for international humanitarian law violations in Gaza and emphasized the need for clear principles in such delicate situations.

According to official reports, United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres condemned the Israeli state for its brutal bombing of Gaza while expressing support for the rights of Palestinians. In response to this, Israel demanded his immediate resignation from his position.

The UN Secretary-General stressed that the aid sent to Gaza is equivalent to a drop in the sea given the needs of Gaza. Aid to Gaza should be sent without restrictions. He also stated that the attacks by Hamas on Israel should not be used as an excuse to justify the Israeli bombing of Palestinians, and the use of social harm as a form of punishment for them. The protection of Palestinian civilians and the respect for basic human rights are mandatory.

According to international media, the Israeli Foreign Minister has refused to meet with United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres after his statements. Additionally, a representative of the Zionist state at the United Nations has also called for Antonio Guterres’ resignation.

It is worth noting that the Israeli attacks on Palestinians, particularly in Gaza, have resulted in nearly 6,000 casualties, with an additional 704 Palestinians killed in the past 24 hours alone among whom approximately 200 are children.

The Zionist state’s bombings have turned Gaza into a graveyard, with the number of homeless and wounded people reaching hundreds of thousands, making the count immeasurable.
