Afghanistan Defeats Pakistan by 8 Wickets in the World Cup

Chennai: In the 22nd match of the International Cricket Council (ICC) One Day World Cup, Afghanistan handed Pakistan a devastating defeat, winning by 8 wickets.

Rahmanullah Gurbaz scored 65, Ibrahim scored 87, Captain Hashmatullah contributed 43, and Rahmat Shah’s unbeatable innings of 72 runs led the way for Afghanistan.

On the Afghan side, young spinner Noor Ahmad took 3 wickets, while fast bowler Naveen-ul-Haq secured 2 wickets. Additionally, Mohammad Nabi and Azmatullah claimed one wicket each.

The performance of the Pakistan national team’s bowlers left much to be desired once again, with Pakistan’s Shaheen and Hasan Ali only managing to take one wicket each. In the final overs, Iftikhar Ahmed and Shadab Khan led the batting effort, with Iftikhar scoring 40 off 27 balls and Shadab scoring 40 off 38 balls. Shaheen Afridi remained not out with a score of 3 runs.

It should be noted that in the World Cup match played in Chennai, Pakistan had won the toss and decided to bat first, setting a target of 283 runs after losing 7 wickets in the allotted 50 overs. However, Afghanistan’s team comfortably chased down the target.

Remember that earlier, Afghanistan had caused a major upset by defeating defending champions England.
