Sukkur: The medical board constituted to conduct the postmortem of the 10-year-old domestic servant allegedly killed by an influential peer in Ranipur town of Khairpur district has concluded that the girl was subjected to “severe torture”.
Pir Asad Shah Jilani from the influential family of Ranipur town was arrested last week by the district police on the allegation of torturing his 10-year-old servant to death.
This case initially came to light when a video clip of a minor victim’s body with severe torture marks went viral on social media.
In the video, the severely injured girl can be seen struggling to sit on her bed but soon collapsing. The minor girl was identified as the daughter of Nadeem Ali Thero, a resident of village Ali Muhammad Thero, Khan Wahan, Mehrabpur, district Naushahro Feroze.
Dr. Amanullah Bhangwar, Additional Police Surgeon Shaheed Benazirabad District told on Sunday that the medical board has prepared the initial five-page report.
The postmortem report revealed “bruising and abrasions on the right side of the face and forehead with bluish discoloration and greenish tinge on the left side of the face, neck, and shoulder,” he said.
The initial postmortem report also stated that the deceased girl had a wound in her abdomen. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Khairpur Mir Ruhail Khan Khoso told the media that the accused Jilani was taken to GIMS Hospital Khairpur for DNA testing and four other individuals working in the peer’s custody were also taken for DNA sampling.
He said the custody of Pir of Ranipur has not been sealed but the police is deployed there to gather required evidence related to the investigation. The SSP further said if there are more enslaved girls, they will recover them from the peer’s custody.
He said the final postmortem will confirm if the minor girl was sexually abused. The senior police officer said the suspended SHO Ranipur, doctor, and compounder involved in shielding the culprits will be taken into remand.
In the native village Khan Wahan of district Naushahro Feroze, the body of a 10-year-old girl was recovered on Thursday by the medical team of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Hospital Nawabshah under the supervision of Judicial Magistrate Jamil Ahmed Rajpar of Kandhari.
