Govt. Imposes Additional 24.50 Billion Rupees Charges on KE Consumers

Karachi: Once again, there is bad news for the residents of Karachi as the government has decided to burden electricity consumers in the city with an additional cost of 24.50 billion rupees.

The government has decided to impose an extra charge of 1.52 rupees per unit on electricity bills for Karachi’s consumers. This additional surcharge will result in an additional burden of 24.50 billion rupees on the citizens of Karachi.

The application of this 1.52 rupees surcharge will be effective for one year. The surcharge on electricity bills is being implemented in the context of a three-month adjustment. In this regard, the federal government has collected requests in Nepra and the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) will hold a hearing on August 15th.
