Despite Recent Increase of 20 Rupees, Petrol Still Selling for Rs 225 per Litre

In recent developments, the Pakistani government implemented a significant increase in petrol prices, raising it by 20 rupees per litre. This move has had a profound impact on the people of Pakistan, adding to the burden of inflation they are already facing.

Surprisingly, in the province of Balochistan, petrol is being sold at a considerably lower price of 225 rupees per litre. The reason behind this discrepancy lies in the smuggling of petrol from Iran to Balochistan, where it is sold for as low as 150 rupees per litre in the border areas.

The border between Iran and Balochistan spans 909 kilometres, providing an extensive path for smugglers to transport petrol in 20-25-gallon bottles, which are then sold and distributed to various cities within the region. As a result, Balochistan has become a hub for cheaper petrol.
