KOLKATA: Thanks to Dilshan’s brilliant knock, Sri Lanka opens winning account in the Super-10 round of ICC WT20 2016 at Eden Garden, Kolkata.
Batting first, Afghanistan openers could enjoy the Eden Garden conditions and looked struck, and when Sri Lanka introduced spinners, the wickets began to tumble as dot balls had mounted extra pressure on them.
Afghanistan were 51-4 in 11th over when skipper Asghar along with Samiullah began to take on Sri Lankan bowlers, they put up a valuable  61-run partisanship, helped Afghanistan post a fighting total of 153/7.
Asghar Stanikzai top scored with 62 runs off 47 balls and Samiullah added 31 runs to the teams total.
Sri Lanka in reply were right on the money, their openers, Dilshan (83*) and Chandimal ( ) took on Afghan bowlers from the first over.
Though, two quick wickets in the middle put them off balanced a little, but Dilshan went on to finish the game all the way.
Sri Lanka chased down the total in 18.1 over with 6 wickets in hand.
