Afridi reaches Karachi after Asia Cup debacle

KARACHI: Pakistan Captain Shahid Afridi returned to Karachi on Saturday amid tight security after Twenty20 Asia Cup debacle in Bangladesh.

Shahid along with his family swiftly came out of Quaid-e-Azam International Airport and went away in vehicle having national flag.

Around half a dozen security personnel provided him security as he came out of the terminal building.

Shahid Afridi told the waiting reporters at the airport that he was in Karachi for a couple of days and may be holding a press conference about World Twenty20.

Pakistan crashed out of continental championship after shock defeat at the hands of host Bangladesh. Pakistan also lost to arch-rival India and beaten minnow United Arab Emirates and struggling Sri Lanka in their league matches.

While Shahid Afridi came directly here from Dhaka, the remaining players of the team including Vice Captain Sarfraz Ahmed, Khurram Manzoor, Sharjeel Khan and Muhammad Sami would land here via Dubai later tonight. – APP
