Security guard of Dr Afia’s sister’s house assaulted by unknown suspects

KARACHI: The security guard of Dr Aafia Siddiqui’s sister Dr Fauzia Siddiqui was brutally tortured by some  unknown armed men in Karachi.

According to sources, the security guard Amir, who was on duty at the residence of Dr Fauzia in Gulshan-e-Iqbal Block 7, was left tied unconscious with the chair after torture.

The family members told the security personnel that assailants fled the scene after taking important information regarding the routine of Dr Aafia’s children Ahmad and Maryam.

Police and Rangers officers have launched an investigation into the matter and assured to apprehend the suspects as early as possible.

The Pakistani neuroscientist Dr Aafia was sentenced to 86 years in prison after she was convicted of grabbing a US soldier’s M-4 assault rifle and trying to shoot a group of FBI agents and soldiers at an Afghan police compound in July 2008, a charge she consistently denied during the trial.
