LAHORE: Three universities and seven colleges closed till December 31 due to security threats to educational institutes of Punjab, TheNewsTribe.com reported.
According to details, Bahauddin Zakariya University, Women medical University and University of Engineering and Technology, Multan will remain closed till December 31.
Seven other colleges will also remain closed until next orders. Earlier, The ’emergency and secret’ alert was issued on January 25 directing the law enforcement agencies (LEAs) to beef up security around schools, colleges and universities across Punjab.
The alert mentioned that 13 suicide bombers associated with outlawed Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) have entered into the country from Afghanistan with an intent to carry out attacks.
They are being controlled by two commanders named as Umar and Abuzar, it added.
Sources told that the closure of schools in Punjab till January 31, citing ‘severely cold weather’, was also linked with the threat of terrorist attacks. Authorities are pondering as to how the security can be improved in this period.
