PM orders to freeze increasing private school fees in 2015

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister of Pakistan Miyaan Mohammad Nawaz Sharif in last hours of Sunday took notice of the issue and announced to freeze increasing private schools’ fees for the year 2015.

PM directed the Ministry of Education and Capital Administration & Development Division (CADD) to implement this decision during 2015 in letter and spirit.

The private schools in the middle of this month, suddenly enhanced their fee to the extent which wasn’t acceptable to students and their parents.

It created commotion and now prime minister had to intervene. It hasn’t been made clear that the directive of the prime minister would be implemented throughout the country or it would be enforced in the federal capital alone since the CADD’s jurisdiction is confined to Islamabad and the areas under the domain of the federal government.

The premier has also directed the Ministry of Education and CADD to hold consultative meetings with all stakeholders in order to devise a unanimously-acceptable policy of fee raise in private schools.
