Marvan Atapattu resigns as coach of Sri Lankan team

 

COLOMBO – Sri Lankan’s former captainĀ Marvan AtapattuĀ has resigned as Sri Lankan coach without giving any reasons.

According to details, Atapattu presented the resignation to Sri Lankan Cricket Board and they accepted his resignation.

Marvan Atapattu had joined Sri Lankan cricket team in September 2014 after Pail Farbrac’s departure. He also served Sri Lankan team as a batting coach since 2011.

Atapattu was the first Sri Lankan’s coach in last 15 years. During his time period, Sri Lankan team produced some strong punches.

Sri Lankan team won the first Test series in England in last 16 years under the coaching of Sri Lankan’s legendary middle order batsman.

Atapattu’s resignationĀ follows the exitĀ of Chaminda Vaas as fast-bowling coach following the World Cup this year.

Atapattu led Sri Lanka in 18 Tests during his playing career. He has 90 Test matches and Test 5502 runs to his name.
