Highlights: 3rd Test, Day One – Pakistan vs Sri Lanka 2015

PALLEKELE: Pakistan who started the proceedings of third and the last Test of the series with four major changes playing with three pacers and one spinner, opted to bowl first on a green top wicket after winning the toss. Though Rahat got them an early breakthrough, but unfortunately Pakistani pace attack could not capitalise on it.

Sri Lanka made a great comeback after loosing early wicket of K Silva on 16. Islanders were only one down with hundred runs on board before Misbah brought young leggie, Yasir on attack who grabbed four wickets in no time and pushed Sri Lanka very much on the back foot.

four wickets and only sixty off runs in the 27 overs after lunch. Pakistan have undermined Sri Lanka’s early momentum quite well.

At the time, Sri Lanka felt absence of veteran Sangakkara, but it was Kuranaratne who held Sri Lankan innings together making another well-crafted hundred. He was flying high before Azher Ali deceived him with a wrong one, when he tried to use feet against him and was cleverly stumped by Sarfaraz. He palyed a solid and patient innings of 130 runs. Azher ALi’s two back-to-back wickets strengthened Pakistan’s grip on the innings.

Pakistan managed to grab one more wicket at the end of the day when Chandimal unable to tackle Rahat’s in swinging delivery fell leg before wicket for 23.

Sri Lanka were 272/8 at the stumps of day one.

Yasir Shah picked up four while pacer Rahat Ali manged to grab two wickets.

Pakistan has made four changes in the playing XI of second test match in Colombo. Mohammed Hafeez is replaced by young opener Shan Masood.

Fast bowler Junaid Khan has also been dropped from third test and is replaced by Irfan Adil. Fast bowlers Rahat Ali and Imran Khan are also part of side while Wahab Riaz and Zulfiqar Baber are not included in playing XI for third test.
