The decision has turned into a debate right after as Justice Kennedy speaking after the ruling stated that “They ask for equal dignity in the eyes of the law. The Constitution grants them that right.” Whereas; Chief Justice G. Roberts Jr. clearly skeptic of gay marriages in a disagreement supported by Justice Antonin Scalia and Clarence Thomas stated that, “If you are among the many Americans, who favor expanding same-sex marriage, by all means celebrate… but do no celebrate the Constitution. It had nothing to do with it.”

With this Supreme Court ruling, USA became the 21st country to recognize same-sex marriage across the country. Decision came with the majority votes of Justice Sotomayor, Kagan, Ginsburg, Breyer and Kennedy whereas Justice Roberts, Scalia, Alito and Thomas were in dissent on the ruling.

Gay rights supports are celebrating across U.S.A after the ruling and there is a huge uproar on the social media as well.
