ANTWERP – Pakistan will face Indian team in ‘do and die’ match of FIH World Hockey League at Royal Antwerp Hockey Club, Antwerp, Belgium on Friday.
Pakistan needs to beat Indian team to qualify for next Olympic games. Pakistan needs to beat one major team in World Hockey League and after losing match against Australia, it is last chance for Pakistan to qualify for mega event.
In last battle of traditional rivals, Pakistan team thrashed Indian team by 4-3 in previous Champions Trophy.
Pakistani player celebrated in a different style. All players removed their shirts and Pakistan hockey player Butt gave gestures to spectators to keep quiet as he and teammates celebrate their victory over India
After that historic win, FIH banned two Pakistani players over their celebration in ground.
On Wednesday, Australian team beat Pakistan in a crucial match by the margin of 6-1.
After first goal from Australia, Pakistani striker Irfan level the score in the 13th minute of first quarter. Australian player again netted ball and took the lead 2-1.
In third quarter Australian team scored another goal and snatched the game from Pakistan and in fourth quarter Jamie netted another one and boost the lead to 4-1.
Australian player Govers scored goal on a corner in last quarter while Kangaroos succeeded to collect another one at a speed of 125 KPH in the last minute of the game.
It’s pertinent to mention here that Pakistan need to finish the tournament as one of the top three teams in World Hockey League to qualify for Olympics 2016.
India, Netherlands, Germany and Argentina have already qualified for mega event.
In the opening match, green shirts beat Poland by 2-1, and got a winning start in the tournament.
