San Francisco: Prior to the Apple Music upstaging the market Google Inc has launched a free version of its music streaming app Google Play Music. The application as available until now on a $9.99 fee for two years but the updated launched on Tuesday would not allow users to enjoy the application for free.
Free version of Google Play Music is the downgraded version of the already available app where users would not be able to select their own music list but would be depended on a pre-curated list to select music of their own choice. It is certainly a feature less but the strategic move made by Google was indeed very timely and endangers Apple’s music app debut.
Apple recently announced Apple Music’s launch date, i.e 30th June available on a free month trial and on a $9.99 per month single app plan or a $14.99 family plan. The application allows users to listen to Apple radio stations, Beats 1 radio stations, save connect content as well as social media and sharing options.
Google Play Music would allow users to search music by genre’, artists or song to create their own stations however it limits their options. Songza, a music curation services previously acquired by Google in 2014 would be powering the play lists options in Google Play Music free version.
