RIYADH – The first day of Ramadan will be observed on June 18 in Saudi Arabia including Gulf and Middle Eastern countries.
The meeting of moon sightings committee were called on the appeal of Saudi Arabia’s Supreme Council.
The fasting in the peninsula will begin on Thursday (June 18).
On the other, the Royat e Hilal Committee Pakistan with its head Mufti Muneeb ur Rehman in chair, will meet in Karachi tomorrow for sighting of the Ramazan moon. Provincial moon sighting committees will also meet at their respective headquarters to decide about the moon.
Earlier, the Supreme Council of Saudi Arabia has asked its citizens to keep an eye out for the crescent moon on Tuesday.
If the Ramadan moon is not sighted on Tuesday, the month of fasting will begin on Thursday.
Saudi Arabia has called on Muslims to immediately report the sighting of the crescent moon with a court or an authority.
The moon sighting committee astronomically decides about the first day of fasting month and the same practice is repeated to predict astronomically the or Eid -ul- Fitr.
