Nawaz Sharif isn’t marvelous leader, Benazir had this capability: Musharraf

ISLAMABAD: Former president general (retd) Pervez Musharraf has said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is not a marvelous leader however, Benazir Bhutto had this capability.

Pervez Musharraf said that Prime Minister has the authority to appoint army chief but solid reasons are required to change him, saying that no one can be sacked without any reason.

He said that Nawaz Sharif adopted a way to remove him which was wrong.He said that army was not in favour of removing him in 1999, saying that he was not Jhangir Karamat to be removed. He said that such a situation occurred due to which he has to come in power.

He said that Shah Abdullah talked to him for release of Nawaz Sharif and he could not refuse and send him (Nawaz Sharif) abroad, saying that he has no personal grudge with Sharif brothers.

Pervez Musharraf said that the performance of National Accountability Court (NAB) was better in his regime, saying that Rs 325 billion was recovered during the eight years.

He said that Kala Bagh dam could not be constructed due to political injustice. He said that Altaf Hussain should not have raised grave allegations against army and the army should think about that if he has apologized over his statement.

Pervez Musharraf said that he does not want to become head of Muthidda Qaumi Movement (MQM), saying that unfortunately, terrorists are there in the political parties.

He said that leaders of Pakistan People’s party (PPP) provide assistance to the peace committee in Liyari. He said that there should be investigations on the allegations leveled by Zulfiqar Mirza.

He said that Imran Khan takes solo flight, saying that there is no doubt the elections were rigged. He said that there is need for improvement in the judicial system.

He said that the Yemen war is not in national interests, saying that Pakistan should become stakeholder in the war.

He said that if Pakistan had not supported the United Sates (US) in 2001, India would have supported the US.

Pervez Musharraf was expressing these views in an interview with a private TV channel.
