Sohail Tanvir all set to stage comeback for World Cup after worst performance by Bilawal Bhatti

KARACHI: After worst bowling performance demonstrated by Bilawal Bhatti, Pakistan Cricket Board is mulling to recall left-arm seamer Sohail Tanvir to replace injured Junaid Khan, who was ruled out of the mega event after failure to pass fitness test.

Sources said that after Junaid’s injury Bilawal Bhatti was included in the team for the two-match series against New Zealand. The pacer was to be included in the 15-member squad for the show-piece event in case of Junaid’s failure to get fit for the World Cup.

As Junaid was ruled out for his failure to pass fitness test, it was certain that Bilawal Bhatti, who is in New Zealand with the team for the two-match ODI series, would be included in the squad. But his extremely poor show in the ODI series compelled the selector and PCB to rethink  of their earlier decision.

Now, the sources said, the PCB and selector are mulling to recall Sohail Tanvir to replace injured Junaid Khan for the World Cup scheduled to start from February 14.

Meanwhile, New Zealand flayed Pakistan’s attack on the way to a crushing 119-run win during the second one-day international in Napier.

Pakistan medium pacer Bilawal Bhatti recorded the worst bowling figures in the country’s ODI history, leaking 93 runs off his ten overs without taking a wicket.
