Spinach versus five major diseases

Spinach and dark leafy greens vegetables are considered as a specially recommended tool against cancer, high blood pressure, diabetics, bone weakness, asthma and many more.

According to nutritionists, one cup of raw spinach contains 27 calories, 0.86 grams of protein, 30 milligrams of calcium, 0.81 grams of iron, 24 milligrams of magnesium, 167 milligrams of potassium, 2813 IUs of Vitamin A and 58 micrograms of folate.

Spinach versus weak bones: Fractures due to weak bones mainly caused over low intakes of Vitamin K, but it could be reversed via regular usage of spinach that provides you enough vitamin K and also plays vital role as a modifier of bone matrix proteins. Spinach also improves calcium absorption besides reducing urinary excretion of calcium.

2. Spinach versus high blood pressure: Spinach is a recommended tool to control high blood pressure due to its high potassium intake which nullify sodium effects in the body as high sodium intake always one of the crucial cause of developing high BP just like low potassium intake.

3. Spinach versus diabetes: The vegetable increase insulin sensitivity and prevent oxidative stress-induced changes in diabetic patients, but no worries as spinach has an antioxidant called as alpha-lipoic acid which mainly lower glucose levels.

Alpha-lipoic also helps decrease in peripheral neuropathy and/or autonomic neuropathy in diabetics. However, most studies have used alpha-lipoic acid via intra-venous intake and it is still unsure whether oral supplementation would create same benefits.

4. Spinach versus cancer: Chlorophyll in spinach and other green vegetables always showed effective resistance against carcinogenic effects of heterocyclic amines which majorly generated when grilling foods at a high temperature.

5. Spinach versus skin diseases and hair fall: Adequate amount of Vitamin A in spinach worked as moisturiser for hair and skin. Meanwhile, Vit A also empowers growth of all bodily tissues including hair and skin. However, all green vegs including spinach are crucial to build and maintain collagen to provide strong structure to skin and hair. Moreover, spinach is also amongst one of the iron-rich foods which reduces iron related deficiencies.
