‘Military courts during martial laws differ special trial courts’

LAHORE: Federal railway minister, Khawaja Saad Rafique, on Thursday differentiated military courts which were established during martial laws and special trial courts led by military rulers in the country recently approved by parliamentary powers on December 24 (yesterday).

Saad Rafique while addressing media on Lahore Railway Station claimed that the military-run special trial courts will not be imposed forcedly on to anyone in the country.

Establishment of military courts was the need of time in order to punish terrorists without making any delay in judgements, local media reported.

The railway minister detailed that the country’s political leadership has established the military-run special trial courts with complete consensus. He said that the government, opposition and military were now standing side-by-side against terrorism. The decision for military courts was taken in sake of betterment of the country.

Rafique said, ‘The elements suffering ‘stomach-ache’ over military courts’ establishment must be ostracised.’ He appealed that imposition of martial law should never be demanded by any political leader in the country.
