Hockey, Kabddi incidents to affect sporting ties with India: PCB chairman

KARACHI: Chairman Pakistan Cricket Board Shehryar Khan has said that recent hockey and Kabaddi incidents should have not happened as such incidents impact sporting especially cricketing ties between India and Pakistan.

Talking to newsmen in Karachi, he said that the ties between PCB and BCCI were cordial and they were not affected by such incidents.

“But these incidents create negative perception among Indian public which impact sporting ties between the two countries,” he added, saying that the franchise owners then refused to include Pakistani players in ILP.

It is to be mentioned here that Shahryar Khan in a recent TV interview had said that the recent incident in India involving the national hockey team players could  have adverse effects on the cricketing ties between the two countries.

He said that political and diplomatic relations between the two countries remained remained tense on a regular basis, but the Indian media and public had also developed negative feelings about Pakistan after the incident in the Champions Trophy hockey tournament.

“Yes it could have adverse effects and it could affect any chances of our players being invited for the Indian Premier League,” PCB chief told ‘Geo Super’ channel.

Khan said even in most difficult situations the relations between Pakistan and Indian cricket boards had remained cordial. “What had happened left its negative impact but so far we have good relations with the Indian board,” he added.
